It has been a busy month in The Bee Friendly Garden – there is always so much to do in the early spring before everything starts to grow. Thought that I would start with photos of the lovely Hellebores that are flowering right now – on those warm spring days the queen bumble bees love them.
There are plenty of other flowers for the early flying insects such as primroses and this beautiful blue Pulmonaria ‘Blue Ensign’
The wildlife pond area is all cleared ready and there are Great Crested Newts in the water already as well as lots of Smooth Newts and the odd frog. There are so many newts, frogs and toads don’t seem to stand a chance of breeding. Either the spawn get eaten or the tadpoles do and if they survive then the froglets and toadlets seem to be eaten as well!
